The Vision

At AMBAR Restaurant, the guest experience depends heavily on atmosphere. From energetic dining service to private events and DJ-supported evenings, the venue’s audio environment plays a critical role in shaping how guests experience the space.

The goal was not simply to “repair” an audio system. The objective was to restore operational reliability, modernize aging infrastructure and improve day-to-day usability for staff while preserving the venue’s hospitality-focused ambiance.

As part of an on-site assessment, Pineapple Audio evaluated the restaurant’s existing AV ecosystem, identified operational vulnerabilities and developed a modernization strategy focused on long-term performance, flexibility and ease of control.

The Challenge

The assessment revealed that while portions of the existing system remained functional, several infrastructure and operational issues were impacting reliability and user experience.

Key challenges included:

  • Failure of the existing AV wireless network, eliminating iPad-based control access

  • Aging outdoor speakers degraded by weather exposure

  • End-of-life wall control hardware in the private dining room

  • Physical rack organization and cable management issues

  • Audio input reliability concerns at the dining room DJ connection

  • Inconsistent documentation of network and signal infrastructure

  • Speaker positioning inconsistencies due to shifted mounting angles

The venue also required a solution that could maintain hospitality-grade audio quality while simplifying operational management for staff and management teams.

The Assessment Strategy

Pineapple Audio established a temporary network environment onsite to regain control access and fully evaluate system functionality.

The assessment process focused on:

  • Audio performance validation

  • Infrastructure stability

  • Control system reliability

  • Equipment lifecycle evaluation

  • Network coordination requirements

  • Long-term operational maintainability

The team confirmed that the interior speaker system remained operational while identifying targeted areas requiring modernization and corrective action.

Modernizing The Control Environment

One of the most critical findings involved the private dining room control interface, which relied on end-of-life hardware no longer suitable for long-term operational support.

To modernize the user experience, Pineapple Audio recommended transitioning to updated IP-based wall controls utilizing the Xilica LUC1-NX platform.

The updated control environment was designed to provide:

  • Simplified zone management

  • Improved reliability

  • Modern network-based control architecture

  • Greater long-term supportability

  • Cleaner user interaction for staff

In parallel, the DSP environment was scheduled for reprogramming and optimization to improve system consistency across the venue.

Infrastructure & Rack Optimization

Beyond audio performance itself, operational reliability depended heavily on improving the physical infrastructure supporting the system.

The modernization plan included:

  • Rack cleanup and reorganization

  • Cable relabeling and documentation

  • Improved rack support and airflow management

  • Structured network and switch-port documentation

  • Enhanced serviceability for future maintenance

Using components from Middle Atlantic and other professional AV infrastructure systems, the project emphasized long-term operational clarity rather than temporary fixes.

The result was a cleaner and more maintainable AV backbone capable of supporting future growth and serviceability.

Enhancing The Guest Experience Outdoors

The outdoor audio system remained functional but showed visible signs of weather-related degradation.

To improve performance and maintain consistent atmosphere quality across the patio environment, Pineapple Audio recommended upgraded weather-resistant loudspeakers utilizing the Bose DesignMax DM3SE platform.

The upgraded exterior system was designed to:

  • Improve clarity and consistency outdoors

  • Withstand long-term environmental exposure

  • Blend aesthetically into the venue design

  • Maintain even sound coverage across guest seating areas

Speaker re-aiming and tuning adjustments were also incorporated to restore intended coverage patterns throughout the property.

Streaming & Operational Flexibility

To improve content management and simplify music distribution, the proposed upgrade path included implementation of the AUDAC SourceCon streaming ecosystem.

Using modular audio streaming infrastructure, the venue gained a pathway toward:

  • Centralized music management

  • Simplified source selection

  • Integration with Soundtrack Your Brand

  • Greater operational flexibility for hospitality staff

  • More scalable audio distribution architecture

This approach positioned the venue for easier day-to-day operation while maintaining professional-grade audio performance.

The AMBAR assessment provided more than a list of repairs. It established a strategic roadmap for restoring reliability, modernizing infrastructure and improving the overall hospitality experience through thoughtful AV integration.
