When Failure Wasn’t an Option
Set at the base of Vail Mountain, Grand Hyatt Vail Resort & Spa is a 285-room ski-in/ski-out destination with more than 40,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, extensive event facilities and multiple dining and hospitality environments.
Just before the resort’s Christmas holiday rush, its existing background-music system experienced a property-wide failure. As a Hyatt-approved AV vendor and author of Hyatt’s brand-wide AV design standards, Pineapple Audio was brought in to perform an emergency backend system upgrade during one of the property’s most demanding periods of the year.
THE DESIGN
Upgrading Behind the Scenes
The challenge extended beyond restoring music. At a fully operational luxury resort approaching peak holiday occupancy, the work needed to be completed quickly and reliably without becoming part of the guest experience.
Pineapple Audio upgraded the backend audio infrastructure serving the resort’s hospitality, meeting and food-and-beverage environments, restoring background music throughout the property while work continued behind the scenes. The system had to support everything from meeting and event spaces to dining destinations including Gessner and Fireside Bar & Lounge.

The upgrade restored music across the property without guest-facing disruption during the resort’s busiest holiday period.
Instead of allowing an infrastructure failure to affect the atmosphere guests experienced throughout the hotel, Pineapple Audio completed the work behind the scenes and returned the system to reliable operation while the resort remained active.
