Au Cheval - Chicago
RESTAURANT · CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
A high-energy sound system designed for a Chicago dining icon where food, music, and atmosphere all share the spotlight.
Where the Au Cheval Story Began
Since opening in Chicago’s West Loop in 2012, Au Cheval has transformed the classic diner experience into something unmistakably its own. The intimate restaurant at 800 W. Randolph St. became known nationally for its celebrated burger, but its appeal extends beyond the food to an atmosphere where every detail contributes to the experience.
For Hogsalt Hospitality, that attention to detail extends to sound. Pineapple Audio designed and installed an audio system with enough presence and energy to become part of Au Cheval’s distinctive character rather than simply provide background music.
THE DESIGN
Built to Be Turned Up
Au Cheval’s sound system was designed to match the energy of the room. Music can be pushed when the atmosphere calls for it while maintaining the clarity and character expected from a carefully considered hospitality space.
A vintage Bozak rotary mixer sits at the heart of the system, paired with custom Pineapple Audio speakers, Powersoft amplification and Xilica DSP. The combination brings analog character together with modern audio performance, creating a system that feels as intentional as the restaurant surrounding it.
