Sushi-san

RESTAURANT · CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

A restaurant sound experience designed to match Sushi-san’s playful mix of serious sushi, old-school hip-hop and energetic River North hospitality.

Sushi Without the Formality

Opened in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, Sushi-san takes a deliberately relaxed approach to serious sushi. The Lettuce Entertain You concept pairs globally sourced ingredients and Japanese technique with an upbeat room, late-night energy and an old-school hip-hop soundtrack.

Pineapple Audio designed the restaurant sound system at 63 W. Grand Ave. to support that personality. Like nearby sibling concept Ramen-san, music is treated as part of the experience rather than simple background audio, helping give the dining room a social, energetic character of its own.

THE DESIGN

Designed for the Vibe

Sushi-san balances serious attention to food with an atmosphere that intentionally avoids feeling overly formal.

The audio system was designed to support that balance, giving the restaurant’s hip-hop soundtrack enough presence to energize the room while remaining comfortable for dining and conversation. The result is sound that feels naturally connected to the concept — upbeat, approachable and never disconnected from what is happening at the table.
