The Great Northern
NIGHTCLUB · SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
A high-impact VOID Acoustics system designed to put the dance floor at the center of one of San Francisco’s defining nightlife spaces.
A New Chapter for a Storied Dance Floor
Opened in 2016 at 119 Utah St., The Great Northern transformed the former Mighty nightclub into a new destination for San Francisco nightlife. Created by the team behind Monarch, the redesigned venue pairs its industrial scale with a distinctive future-deco aesthetic and a main room built around dancing, DJs and live performance.
For a club where the dance floor is the focus, sound needed to be equally central to the experience. Pineapple Audio designed and installed a VOID Acoustics system engineered to give the room the impact, clarity and energy required for nights driven by music.
THE DESIGN
Built for the Dance Floor
The Great Northern’s audio system was designed around the demands of a large, high-energy nightclub environment where consistent coverage and physical impact matter.
VOID Acoustics loudspeakers, Powersoft amplification and Xilica processing form the foundation of the system, delivering the performance needed across the main dance floor while allowing the music to remain detailed and controlled at club levels.
