Hospitality AV Design & Installation in Chicago

From early-stage AV consulting and system design through equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support, we work with owners, operators, architects, and interior designers to create audio systems that fit the venue, the guest experience, and the way the space actually operates. Entertainment lighting can also be integrated as part of the overall AV scope.

Pineapple Audio is a hospitality AV consultant and installer based in Chicago. We design, install, tune, and support sound systems for hotels, restaurants, bars, nightlife venues, and entertainment-focused hospitality spaces across the city.

Selected Chicago Projects

Chicago is home to some of Pineapple Audio’s most recognized hospitality work. Our projects across the city range from high-energy restaurants and cocktail bars to design-driven spaces where the audio system needs to perform at a high level without competing with the architecture or interiors.

Au Cheval

At Au Cheval in Chicago’s West Loop, sound is an active part of the restaurant’s atmosphere rather than simple background music. Pineapple Audio designed and installed a high-energy audio system that gives the intimate dining room the presence and character the concept calls for while maintaining clarity throughout the space.

Armitage Alehouse

At Armitage Alehouse, the audio system needed to complement an interior built around rich detail and an old-world pub aesthetic. Pineapple Audio designed and installed a system that delivers the performance the venue requires while remaining carefully integrated into the surrounding design.

The Heavy Feather

For The Heavy Feather, Pineapple Audio refreshed the cocktail bar’s sound while working within the character of the existing room. The system was integrated around the venue’s detailed woodwork and intimate environment to improve the listening experience without changing what makes the space distinctive.

Hospitality AV Services in Chicago

Pineapple Audio supports hospitality projects from early planning through installation, tuning, and long-term support. We work as part of the broader project team to make sure the AV system is coordinated with the architecture, interior design, operations, and guest experience from the beginning.

We help define the right audio and AV approach for the venue before equipment is selected or installed. That includes system planning, loudspeaker placement, zoning, equipment specifications, infrastructure requirements, and coordination with the architect, interior designer, lighting team, and other project partners.

AV Consulting & System Design

Equipment Procurement

Once the system is designed, Pineapple Audio can manage equipment procurement and help keep the specified system consistent through the construction process. We select equipment based on the needs of the space, the operating model, and the performance expected from the finished venue.

AV Installation & Integration

Our team installs and integrates the system on-site, coordinating with the construction schedule and other trades as needed. The goal is not only reliable performance, but clean integration into the architecture and interior design.

System Tuning & Commissioning

A hospitality sound system is not finished when the equipment turns on. Pineapple Audio tunes and commissions each system around the actual space, balancing coverage, volume, tonal character, and transitions between zones so the venue sounds intentional throughout.

Ongoing AV Support

Hospitality venues evolve after opening. Staff changes, programming changes, equipment issues, and new operational needs can all affect the system over time. Pineapple Audio provides ongoing support to help keep systems performing consistently after installation.

For hospitality concepts where lighting is part of the entertainment experience, Pineapple Audio can incorporate entertainment lighting into the broader AV scope. This is particularly relevant for nightlife venues, bars, lounges, and spaces that transition from daytime or dining service into higher-energy evening programming.

Entertainment Lighting

Sound Systems Designed Around the Venue

The right hospitality sound system depends on how the space is meant to feel, how guests move through it, and how the energy changes throughout the day. A fine dining restaurant, cocktail bar, hotel lobby, rooftop, and nightlife venue should not all be approached the same way.

For restaurants, the goal is often to create consistent energy without sacrificing conversation. That can mean careful zoning between dining rooms and bars, controlled coverage near tables, and enough headroom for the system to become more energetic later in the evening without sounding harsh or uneven.

At Sushi-san, music is part of the restaurant’s identity, with an old-school hip-hop soundtrack helping shape the atmosphere. At Ramen-San, the concept similarly leans into a bass-forward ’90s hip-hop experience. Projects like these require more than simply making background music audible; the system needs to support the character of the concept while remaining comfortable and consistent throughout the space.

Cocktail bars and lounges often need a different balance. Sound may need to feel intimate early in the evening and more immersive later, while still maintaining control between seating areas, bars, and adjacent spaces.

Hotels introduce another set of requirements. Public areas, restaurants, lounges, rooftops, pools, and event spaces may all operate differently while still needing to feel connected to the same brand experience. Pineapple Audio designs multi-zone systems that allow each area to function independently without creating unnecessary complexity for staff.

Nightlife and entertainment-focused venues place even greater demands on output, coverage, tuning, and reliability. These systems may also require DJ integration, performance infrastructure, and entertainment lighting as part of a coordinated AV design.

Across all of these environments, the objective is the same: create a system that supports the concept, works naturally for the staff, and feels intentional to the guest.

Who We Work With

Hospitality AV is rarely designed in isolation. Pineapple Audio works with owners, operators, restaurant groups, hotel brands, architects, interior designers, developers, and other project partners to make sure the AV system supports both the creative vision and the practical needs of the venue.

Hotel projects often require AV systems that serve multiple environments while still supporting a consistent brand experience. Pineapple Audio works within established hospitality standards and project requirements, including experience supporting projects connected with Hyatt and Virgin Hotels.

Our role can include coordinating audio across restaurants, bars, lounges, public spaces, rooftops, pools, and other guest-facing areas while making sure the system remains practical for hotel staff to operate and support.

Hotel Brands & Operators

For restaurant groups, consistency matters, but every location has different architecture, acoustics, and operational needs. Pineapple Audio can help develop repeatable AV standards while adapting each system to the conditions of the individual venue.

That approach allows operators to maintain a recognizable guest experience across multiple locations without forcing the exact same system into spaces where it does not make sense.

Restaurant Groups & Multi-Location Brands

Architects & Interior Designers

We regularly collaborate with architects and interior designers early in the project so speaker placement, equipment locations, cabling, control interfaces, and other AV requirements can be coordinated before they become construction problems.

AV equipment should support the design of the space, not compete with it. Early coordination gives the project team more options for integrating technology cleanly into ceilings, walls, millwork, and other architectural elements.

Owners, Developers & Operators

For owners and developers, Pineapple Audio can help translate the concept and operating goals of the venue into a practical AV strategy. We consider how the space will function at opening, how staff will use the system every day, and how the venue may need to evolve over time.

Whether we join during early design, construction, or an upgrade of an existing venue, the goal is to create a system that works for the people designing the space, the people operating it, and the guests experiencing it.
